Frequently asked questions
Answers about capacity, lift height, installation, safety and maintenance.
General
What is a hydraulic scissor lift used for?
Lifting heavy materials vertically in warehouses, factories, construction sites and automobile workshops.
Can a lift be built to my needs?
Yes. Every Hydro Fabs lift is designed around its load capacity, lift height, platform size and the way it will be used.
Which industries use hydraulic lifts?
Manufacturing, logistics, automotive, construction, retail, warehousing, hospitality and healthcare.
How does a scissor lift work?
Hydraulic fluid is pumped into cylinders, which push the scissor arms apart and raise the platform.
Are hydraulic lifts energy efficient?
Yes. They draw power only while lifting, which keeps electricity use down.
How long does a hydraulic lift last?
A well-maintained lift lasts 10 to 20 years or more, depending on use and care.
How long does installation take?
Between 2 days and 2 weeks, depending on the type and complexity of the lift.
Can lifts be installed outdoors?
Yes. We build for indoor and outdoor sites, with protective coatings where needed.
Hydraulic or electric lift?
Hydraulic lifts use fluid pressure and suit heavy-duty work; electric lifts are motor-driven and suit lighter lifting.
What is a goods lift, and what is a scissor lift?
A goods lift moves materials between floors. A scissor lift gives a platform at an adjustable height.
Mobile or stationary?
A mobile scissor lift moves between locations; a stationary lift is installed permanently in one place.
Can lifts be used for car parking?
Yes. Our car elevators, scissor car lifts and canopy lifts serve multi-level parking, showrooms and service centres.
Do you look after the lift afterwards?
Yes. We handle consultation, fabrication, installation and Annual Maintenance Contracts across India.
What safety standards do you follow?
ISI, CE and Indian factory safety standards, with locks, limit switches and emergency stops fitted as standard.
Hydraulic scissor lift
What is the maximum height?
Our scissor lifts can be built to reach up to 60 feet, or more depending on your requirement.
How much weight can they handle?
From 500 kg upwards. Every lift is built to the load you need to move.
Do you install?
Yes. Design consultation, on-site installation, testing and operator training.
Can they be used outdoors?
Yes. Weather-resistant models carry protective coatings for outdoor use.
What maintenance is needed?
Regular oil checks and an inspection of moving parts every few months. AMC contracts are available.
Hydraulic goods lift
How is it different from a passenger lift?
A goods lift carries materials only, and puts load capacity and ruggedness ahead of passenger comfort.
Can it go into an old building?
Yes. We retrofit goods lifts into existing buildings and tight spaces with custom structures.
How many floors can it serve?
From one floor to as many as your building has.
Does it need a machine room?
No. Our hydraulic lifts are machine-room-less.
Dumb waiter
What can it carry?
From 50 kg upwards. We design the capacity around what you need to send.
How many floors?
Any number of floors, with a call station at each landing.
Can it go into an existing building?
Yes. It is designed for retrofit with minimal civil change.
Is it safe for hot food?
Yes. Food-grade stainless steel cabins are heat resistant and easy to clean.
Car elevator
How much can it lift?
Capacity is customised to your vehicle type and use, from small cars to heavy vehicles.
What safety features are fitted?
Door interlocks, overload sensors, limit switches, mechanical locks and emergency stop.
Can it go into an existing building?
Yes, we specialise in custom-fit retrofits.
Does it need a pit?
Not necessarily. Pit and pitless models are both available.
Scissor type car lift
How much can it carry?
Capacity is customised to your vehicles and project.
Can it be installed without a pit?
Yes, as a surface model with drive-on ramps. Pit models look cleaner.
How high can it travel?
Up to 60 feet or more, depending on the project.
How safe is it?
Mechanical locks, overload sensors, emergency stop and limit switches are standard.
Canopy car lift
Can I park on top of it?
Yes. The canopy takes a static load, so a car can stand on top while another is below.
Which finishes can go on the canopy?
Tiles, stone, concrete, interlocking pavers or artificial turf.
Is it safe at home?
Yes. Emergency stop, overload protection, sensors and mechanical locks are fitted.
